Abstract

This paper comparatively examines the representation of spirituality, redemption, and masculine identity in the fiction of R. K. Narayan and Manju Kapur. It argues that Narayan presents masculine reconstruction through renunciation and Hindu spiritual philosophy, whereas Kapur depicts identity as an ongoing negotiation shaped by modernity, globalization, and gender relations. Through a comparative textual analysis of selected novels, the study highlights continuities and divergences in their treatment of masculinity and redemption.
